Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Spotlight. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. Please read them. They are written to be clear, not to trip you up.

1. Who you are agreeing with

Spotlight is provided by Ace Marketing (Pty) Ltd t/a Spotlight (registration number 2014/199265/07), Block A, 1st Floor, Little Fourways Office Park, Fourways, Sandton, 2191 (“we”, “us”). “You” means the person or business using the service.

2. What Spotlight does

Spotlight measures how AI assistants mention your brand and reports on competitors, citations, and recommendations. The figures are derived from third-party AI models and are indicative insight to guide your decisions. They are not guarantees of ranking, traffic, or business outcomes.

3. Your account

Keep your account details accurate and your login secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at hello@spotlightseo.co.za if you suspect unauthorised use.

4. The free audit

Each domain is entitled to one free audit, once. It is a one-time sample, not a recurring free tier, and the limit is permanent for that domain. Ongoing tracking requires a paid plan.

5. Plans, billing & VAT

• All prices are shown in South African Rand and are inclusive of 15% VAT. You pay the displayed amount; your tax invoice breaks out the VAT.
• Paid plans are subscriptions that renew automatically each billing period (monthly or annual) until cancelled, charged through our payment processor.
• We issue a SARS-compliant tax invoice for every charge: initial, renewal, add-on, or upgrade.
• Plan limits (brands, prompts, competitors) apply per your plan.

6. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel at any time from your billing settings. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and it is not renewed after that. Payments already made are not refunded or pro-rated, except where South African law requires otherwise.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Spotlight for anything unlawful or to infringe others’ rights.
• Resell, scrape, or redistribute the service or its data except as your plan allows.
• Attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the service.
• Track domains you have no legitimate interest in.

8. Intellectual property and your data

We own the Spotlight software, design, and content. You own the data you put in and the reports generated for you; you grant us the licence needed to process that data to provide the service. Your information is handled per our Privacy Policy.

9. Third-party AI outputs

Spotlight relies on third-party AI models we do not control. Their outputs can be incomplete, change over time, or be wrong, and Spotlight reports them as data rather than as professional, legal, or financial advice.

10. Availability and changes

We work to keep Spotlight available and accurate, but we provide it on a reasonable-efforts basis without guaranteed uptime. We may add, change, or retire features as the product evolves.

11. Disclaimers and liability

To the extent permitted by law, Spotlight is provided “as is”, and our total liability arising from the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the three months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including under the Consumer Protection Act where it applies.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction over any dispute.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product or the law changes. We will revise the date above and, for material changes, notify account holders. Continuing to use Spotlight after a change means you accept the updated terms.
